Blogmas '22 - days 1 through 4

Publié le par Charly C.

Hey there!

It's that time of the year again - December, which means Blogmas around here. Since i didn't post in a long time, this will give me a chance to update the blog.

DAY 1

On the first day, over-bloggers were challenged to participate in a contest for a paid account.

The conditions were to tag 2 people and like the page - easy peasy lemon squeezy. I have no idea who won. The winner hasn't been announced yet.

DAY 2

blue car traveling
a random car we saw in summer, uptown

On the 2nd day, we're supposed to write our wishlist to Santa. OK, Santa, i hope you're ready for this:

  • move to Japan in 2023
  • buy a house
  • succeed at making a life for us in Japan

Putting this out to the universe, because.

DAY 3 and 4

It appears that the staff forgot to give us homework for the 3rd day. And the 4th day was designated a rest day.

However, i didn't rest almost at all. I cleaned the bedroom and tidied up a bit along with doing some decluttering. This feels great :D

I guess we'll have another update soon enough.

See you soon!

winter thoughts (2019)

winter thoughts (2019)

Desolate.
Naked bushes scattered on the shalow snow
Make me feel as frozen as the air.
The cold deserted scenery makes feel welcomed
Others pay no attention -
too much in a hurry to reach their destination
This is how winter nests itself in our hearts.

Everything is quiet, cold and white.
In the night, yellow and white lights show the roads blanketed by heavy snow.
Hungry beasts bear their teeth at anyone daring to venture in the darkness.

December just started as I start typing this. But knowing me, it will take a while for me to gather my thoughts and finish it.  -As I post this is already the end of January. lack of inspiration.-

However, I need some sort of a conclusion for 2018. It will help me with remembering things when I'll be older. Placing events according to a time frame is not my strongest point.  It does seem like I have many weaknesses, doesn't it? At the very least, one of my biggest weaknesses is (still) cleaning, as we all remember.

I'm sure you remember i drew a couple conclusions at the end of the past years. I'll link the 2017 one here, mostly for myself ... and to be able to compare the 2 years better.

Last December I made my first resolution for the new year - you know the stuff I'd like to accomplish in 2018. I'll show a picture of it, and then talk about how I did.

The first picture is last year's resolutions. In the second picture I recorded my workout progress or efforts, along with how much i weigh at the end of the month. The last picture shows my resolutions for 2019.

I think I did pretty well with working out. It didn't turn into a routine, but I did work out more than I expected. I hope to continue on a similar note and to improve. However, so far throughout January, I failed. I also did pretty well with studying Chinese last year. I think the worst was the calligraphy as I practiced nothing in that regard, though I did write by hand throughout the year. Just not for this specific purpose.

I also did pretty well with less swearing - while i didn't record myself talking, I always tried to censor out all cuss words. I still feel like cussing a lot, and a times i do let out some cuss words. I was cussing a lot in 2017 - this year, so far I think i cussed once or twice.

snowmen and frozen nature

This winter came early - the first snow fell at the end of November. Of course people had to make snowmen. The 2nd one seen above, was actually VERY small -maybe smaller than the length of my palm? I had to squat to take a picture at its level.

This winter didn't only come early, but it's also quite extreme. Last week it rained and there was a strong wind that turned the water into instant ice. It froze the grass, the trees, the fences, the parked cars, everything. Some tree branches even broke because of the weight of the ice.

It looked beautiful - like a forbidden frozen city from a magical land where people were somehow transported. Yesterday, it all started slowly melting. I'm glad I took some pics.

Snowy January in Bucharest

Publié le par Charly Cross

It is March already, oops. wanted to post this at least in February, but if you read back my posts, you know why this didn't happen.

So, December, as you might already know, was super cold. But we had no snow. Snow came in January..

I took this picture at night and the only edits I used was cropping and the writing on it. I can use the #nofilter hashtag too. That night we were watching a Korean horror movie. I must say the movie was pretty good. However, at a certain moment I was wondering why is there so much light, even though it was about 3 am.. The answer was rather shocking for me: it was snowing like crazy. The snowstorm continued for a day or two, I believe. In any case, this wasn't the first snow of the year, but the first snow wasn't as ferocious, so to say.

Here are some pictures I randomly found on my computer. They are taken last year, still in January. There isn't much difference if you ask me.

I really wanted to build a snowman. this year. I never got around to. Somebody else build the one you see below. Too bad the wind blew its hat off, as you'd better see the mop as hair.  Like thi, we see the hairstyle is specific to the 1990s era (any Backstreet Boys fans out there?).

In any case, the snow didn't last very long. The video below will show you what the snow looked like after a few days. The worst part was the ice that formed like magic, as if hoping we would fall and break our feet. Luckily this didn't happen to anyone I know. I recorded the last part of the video at night, and it seems the light was worse than I thought.

[disclaimer] I didn't record these videos after the same snowfall. We had about 3 in total, this year. I just edited them in the same video to make it easier on myself. I also don't remember which of my smartphones I used to record.

I recorded this video in January 2016. I always wanted to post it on my blog, but I don't think I did. In any case, this is what it looks like to walk in snow, in Bucharest. because the mayor of the city doesn't care to send people in the streets to remove the snow.

At a certain moment in January [of this year], me and my friend were walking downtown. I forgot why I decided to do that. Perhaps I just felt the need to move, to feel more active. In any case at a certain moment we came across this stand with bikes for rent.  I didn't go too close to have a better look, to see how the system works, however I thought it was pretty neat to have this in Bucharest. You can also see the snow, and the lights from the bike stand and bikes themselves looked quite nice as well.

On a different evening, I asked my friend to go out somewhere. We went in the Old Town area - it's filled with cafés, restaurants, and bars. I have no idea how we stumbled across a sorta steampunk looking café, that seemed to want to take us back in time.

Sadly, the lights weren't too good, and we couldn't take much or better pictures. I had a hot tea and my friend had a café latte. Or this is what I remember it being. We weren't impressed much with the drinks, but we promised we would go again. We have yet to go again. I believe the owner of the place was the bartender there (for now at least).
